May 2023 Mom of the Month - Katie

Tell us about your family. I’ve been married to my husband Joe for 8 years (as of May 15th!) and we have three kiddos — Easton is 6, Claire is 4, and Carter is 2. Our Goldendoodle Kota is 5.

How did you meet your partner? Joe worked with a friend of mine from high school and we got to know each other better going line dancing every week at the Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown.

Where are you originally from? I grew up in Kent, Ohio.

Tell us about your current or previous career. Prior to having kiddos I worked in Marketing and Events at Cleveland Magazine, I was a Brand Manager for The Little Tikes Company, and I worked with local businesses at the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce. Currently, I own A Piece of Home, Co. with my husband and we host Paint & Sip and Wreath Making classes at local breweries and wineries.

How did you find FIT4MOM and what do you love about it? A friend asked me to go to a Stroller Strides class with her and nearly six years later, the rest is history! As a stay at home mom, I loved the Fit4Mom schedule and friendships that classes provided. After attending my first Moms Night Out, I remember telling my husband “I found my people!”

What’s on your Bucket List? I really want to travel internationally with my husband.

Who is your celebrity crush or celebrity BFF? I’d totally be besties with Amy Schumer or Melissa McCarthy!

If your nickname was your pregnancy craving(s), what would it be? Mint Oreo Blizzard

Where is your favorite place to travel? Hilton Head Island

What is your favorite hobby? Reading

What is your favorite “hurt so good” exercise? Squats and push-ups

What is your favorite tv show, podcast, or book? My husband and I love watching “The Challenge” on MTV and rewatching The Office

What is your favorite local place for family outings? Sunny Lake Park

What five items do you always buy when you go to the grocery store? Cheese, coffee creamer, fruit snacks, bread, and protein drinks

What is your proudest moment as a mom? Hearing my kindergartener read a book! And running into another parent that says “my kids love (Easton or Claire) they talk about them all the time!”

What's one thing you would go back and tell yourself as a new mom? No one knows what they’re doing, and there is no “right way” to parent. You are the best mom for your kiddos and you are doing a great job. This season is temporary.
