December 2022 Mom of the Month - Ellen

Tell us about your family.

My partner is Skye, and we've been together since 2014! In 2019 we became parents when Alex was born! She recently started preschool, and also our second child, Leo was born this past summer. My mom lives with us, and she likes being able to see her grandkids all the time.

How did you meet your partner?

Skye and I met at a summer camp for grown ups in Ontario.

Where are you originally from?

The west side - Fairview Park specifically

Tell us about your current or previous career.

I work for Progressive as a network administrator. I started out doing IT for a small company, and then I got a job on the help desk at Progressive. I got my certifications, and then I got promoted to the networking team while I was pregnant with Alex.

How did you find FIT4MOM and what do you love about it?

I found it on Google after someone online mentioned something like it where she lives. I really love getting out and meeting new moms, and I like that Alex can come with me!

What’s on your Bucket List?

Hike the Appalachian Trail

Who is your celebrity crush or celebrity BFF?

Christina Applegate

If your nickname was your pregnancy craving(s), what would it be?

Pop Tart

Where is your favorite place to travel?

Hocking Hills

What is your favorite hobby?

Hiking

What is your favorite “hurt so good” exercise?

Running

What is your favorite tv show, podcast, or book?

I always hop between things and never have a favorite for long. But I'm watching 1899 on Netflix now and I adore it.

What is your favorite local place for family outings?

The zoo!

What five items do you always buy when you go to the grocery store?

Sparkling water, brussel sprouts, vegan "chicken" nuggets (for me), regular chicken nuggets (for Alex), and ice cream (for Skye).

What is your proudest moment as a mom?

Alex has always struggled to learn things that come easy to other kids. But my proudest moment for her was when it finally "clicked" and she realized she could use her AAC device to request things from us. This has opened up a whole world of communication for her, and I'm excited for what she'll do next.

What's one thing you would go back and tell yourself as a new mom?

It's harder than you think, but you totally got this!
