August 2023 Mom of the Month - Emily

Tell us about your family. Our family is composed of myself, my husband, Tim, Margot (2 1/2 years old), Bridget (8 months old) and our dog, Shako!

How did you meet your partner? Tim and I both played in the marching band at Notre Dame, and our paths finally crossed during our junior year. Trombone for him, clarinet for me…we are eagerly awaiting the day the day the girls choose their own band Subscribe to our email list instruments!

Where are you originally from? I was born in Albany, NY, and my family moved to the Cleveland area when I was 10 years old.

Tell us about your current or previous career. I’m a school-based occupational therapist! I work primarily with K-12+ students, helping them develop independence in the occupations of childhood - learning, playing, and self-care at school.

How did you find FIT4MOM and what do you love about it? Two years ago, I was wrapping up for the school year and looking forward to a summer at home with my three month-old. I’m pretty sure I googled “what to do baby summer Cleveland Ohio” -haha! That led me to a listicle that mentioned Fit4Mom, and the rest is history!

What’s on your Bucket List? Once we’re retired, my husband and I would love to hike the Appalachian Trail.

If your nickname was your pregnancy craving(s), what would it be? Salad for baby #1, and Puppy Chow for baby #2

Where is your favorite place to travel? Take me to the mountains!

What is your favorite hobby? Reading!

What is your favorite “hurt so good” exercise? I would have to say push-ups!

What is your favorite tv show, podcast, or book? TV - White Lotus Podcast - The Popcast Book - so many! One that comes to mind is Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine

What is your favorite local place for family outings? We love to walk around Chagrin Falls. Playground + Jeni’s ice cream = perfection

What five items do you always buy when you go to the grocery store? Eggs, bread, iced coffee, cheese, and berries!

What is your proudest moment as a mom? In the last couple of months, Margot has started to speak so kindly to Bridget and go out of her way to help her. I am so proud that we are raising the girls with models of love and respect all around them. Motherhood is such a gift!

What's one thing you would go back and tell yourself as a new mom? Take it easy! You’re doing enough. Say “yes” as much as you can, and save the “no”s for things that matter.

What is something mommy always says? “I love you too, Margot”

What is mommy good at? “Take care of Margot!”

What is mommy’s favorite thing to do? “Put bandaid on my knee when (I) trip on (the) hard floor”

What is your favorite thing to do with mommy? “Play basketball hoop (with) Mama”
